How It Works
You've got a quote from a tradie. Maybe it's for a bathroom reno, a new fence, or fixing your roof. The number at the bottom looks big. But is it actually fair?
That's what this tool figures out.
What we do
You upload your quote (PDF, photo, or paste the text). Our system reads it, pulls out the line items, and checks each one against current market rates in your area.
We also look up the supplier online to see if other customers have left reviews about their work.
You get back:
- An overall score combining pricing, reviews, and risk factors into one clear number
- A price score (1-10) telling you if the quote is fair, cheap, or expensive compared to what others are paying for similar work in your area
- A line-by-line breakdown showing which items look fair and which look high
- Risk flags pointing out things like missing ABN, no warranty terms, vague scope, or suspiciously cheap pricing that might mean corner-cutting
- A supplier review summary based on what we can find online across multiple review sites
Where the pricing data comes from
We maintain a database of typical Australian trade pricing across major cities and regions. This data comes from industry sources, published rate guides, and the anonymised quotes that users submit through this tool.
Before analysing your quote, we check our database for similar line items and any previous quotes from the same supplier. This means the more quotes we analyse, the better and more specific our pricing data gets.
What we don't do
- We don't provide financial, legal, or building advice
- We can't verify the quality of workmanship
- We can't guarantee our pricing data is perfectly accurate for every situation
- We don't replace getting multiple quotes from different tradies
This tool is a starting point. Use it alongside your own research, and always get at least two or three quotes for any significant job.
Is it really free?
Yes. We run ads to cover costs. We also keep anonymised pricing data from submitted quotes to improve the service — see our privacy policy for details.
Who built this?
A regular Australian who got sick of not knowing whether quotes were fair. This tool exists because getting ripped off by a tradie is a national sport, and it shouldn't be.
